Privacy Policy

Galley is built so your data stays yours. There's no account, no advertising and no analytics in the app, and we don't collect, sell or share personal information. The app doesn't send your recipes, plans or lists to us.

What stays on your device

Everything you add to Galley is stored only on your iPhone or iPad: recipes and their photos, collections, your meal plan, cook log, grocery lists, pantry, ingredient database and settings. We never receive a copy, and Galley doesn't sync to iCloud.

Importing recipes

When you import a recipe from a website, Galley downloads that page and its photo directly from the website, and pulls the recipe out on your device. Importing from a public Notion page works the same way, from Notion. Those sites see an ordinary request, as they would from your browser, and have their own privacy policies. Nothing passes through us.

Camera and photos

When you scan a recipe or choose a photo of one, the text is read on your device with Apple's Vision framework. The image isn't uploaded anywhere.

Voice commands

In Cook Mode, you can turn on voice commands like “next” and “back”. Galley uses the microphone only while that's on, and speech is recognised on your device. Audio is never recorded or sent anywhere.

Reminders

If you send your grocery list to Apple Reminders, Galley adds the items to a list there. It asks for access to Reminders the first time, and you can change that in Settings.

Notifications, widgets and timers

Prep reminders, start-cooking alerts and cook timers are scheduled on your device with Apple's notification system. Widgets and Live Activities read from Galley's own data on your device. Nothing is sent to a server.

Sharing and backups

When you share a recipe, a grocery list or a PDF, or export a backup, the app creates the file on your device and you decide where it goes. We never see it.

Deleting your data

Delete the app and everything Galley stored goes with it. Since we never had a copy, there's nothing left anywhere else.

This website

This website doesn't use cookies, ads or analytics. Like most websites, our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, including IP addresses and pages visited, to keep the site running and secure.

Children

Galley doesn't collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes, for example if iCloud sync is added, we'll update this page and the date above.
