Frequently Asked Questions
A website's recipe didn't import properly. What can I do?
Most recipe sites publish their recipes in a standard format Galley can read. Some don't, so Galley falls back to reading the page's headings, which isn't always perfect. You can fix anything after importing, or take a screenshot and import it as a photo instead.
What are late days and shop days?
Set them in settings, under Your Week. Late days, like gym nights or long shifts, never get a shop, and the plan suggests leftovers or something quick. Each shop day's list covers the meals until the next one.
Why does a planned meal say “cooks 4 · feeds 2”?
The recipe makes four portions and your household is two, so the rest is saved as leftovers you can plan for another meal. Change your household size in settings.
Why does a grocery item say “Staple” or “Bought Tue”?
Galley thinks you probably have it already, so it asks you to check before buying. Staples are things you always keep, and bought items come from what you ticked off recently. If you've run out, mark it Used Up in the Pantry tab.
Voice commands aren't working in Cook Mode.
Make sure Galley is allowed to use the microphone and speech recognition in iOS Settings, under Privacy & Security. Then say “next”, “back” or “read it”.
Can I move my recipes to a new iPhone?
Yes. In settings, under Data, export a backup and open it on the new device. A backup has every recipe, collection, your meal plan, cook log, ingredient database and settings. iCloud sync is coming later.
How accurate is the nutrition?
It's an estimate from food databases and the recipe's quantities, so treat it as a guide. You can enter exact figures for an ingredient, and Galley will use them from then on. Always check labels if you have an allergy.
